Everything you wanted to know before starting.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are honest answers to the questions I hear most often — so you can show up with a little more clarity and a little less uncertainty.
What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?
CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We work together to notice unhelpful patterns and gently reshape them through practical tools and real-life practice between sessions.
How does telehealth work?
All sessions are held via secure video conferencing from the comfort of your own space. You’ll receive a link before each appointment. You’ll need a private location, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
What states do you serve?
I provide telehealth therapy to clients in New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Texas, and Vermont.
How long are sessions and how often do we meet?
Individual sessions are 50 minutes. Couples sessions are 60 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly meetings, then taper to biweekly as progress takes hold. We’ll adjust the rhythm to fit your needs.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse 50–80% of session fees. I recommend calling your insurer to verify your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes, a limited number of sliding-scale spots are available for clients who need them. If cost is a concern, please mention this during your free consultation and we’ll discuss what’s possible.
What should I expect in the first session?
The first session is a gentle conversation about what’s bringing you in, your history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. We’ll also talk about how CBT works and whether we’re a good fit.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be charged the full session fee, except in cases of emergency or illness.
I’m happy to talk through anything that’s on your mind.
The free 20-minute consultation is a no-pressure space to ask questions, share what’s bringing you in, and see if we’re a good fit.
